Teacher Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION:  

• Work with infants, toddlers, preschool and school-age children 

• Facilitate children’s activities and implement lesson plans as delegated by the Lead Teacher

• Help take children on field trips

• Help Manage behavior of children

• Provide break relief for Lead Teachers.

• Prepare snacks and lunches

• Check & change diapers (when working with infants & toddlers)

• Complete documentation as needed per State of Alaska Child Care Licensing requirements (unusual or concerning behavior, any major conflicts between children, accidents, injuries, medication administration, and any other important comments from children or parents, behaviors or incidents) 

• Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents, staff and children

• Perform cleaning and basic maintenance

• Completion of 24 hours of required annual training (to be paid for by Little Dippers)

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Energetic and positive attitude

• Physical ability to care for small children 

• Must be at least 18 years of age to work with children unsupervised

• Provide three positive references

• CPR/First Aid Certification 

• Clear federal criminal background check

 

COMPENSATION:

• Starting wage for age 18 years up: minimum $15-$17/hour (DOE)

• Unpaid holidays: Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day
